STATEMENT ON RELEASE OF FOSTER CONSULTATION REPORT INTO PARLIAMENTARY WORKPLACE

Labor welcomes the release of the consultation report by Stephanie Foster PSM into the procedures around serious incidents in the parliamentary workplace.

The safety and wellbeing of staff must always be the number one priority.

Alongside the review being undertaken by Commissioner Kate Jenkins, this consultation report highlights the urgent action required to ensure our staff are safe and supported.

Labor has and will continue to work constructively to improve the culture of our parliamentary workplaces.

We await the promised formal briefings from the Government, and will provide feedback and suggestions to Ms Foster after consulting with our staff representatives and relevant unions.

Following this, we look forward to the final report being released publicly, and prompt action to implement recommendations that will make the parliamentary workplace safer.
