CONSULTATION ON THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT’S FIRST DATA AND DIGITAL GOVERNMENT STRATEGY NOW OPEN

The Albanese Government is developing the first combined Data and Digital Government Strategy in recognition of Australians’ growing expectations of simple, secure and connected digital government services.

The Strategy will act as a blueprint for the government’s use of data and digital technologies through to 2030.

In developing the Strategy, the government is seeking community and industry views on the draft Strategy released as part of the 2023-24 Budget.

The Minister for Finance, Senator Katy Gallagher, said that people using digital government services want the experience to be simple and seamless.

“The government must embrace digital technologies to ensure that all Australians can access and engage with trusted and secure government services online.”

Industry and business, academia and individuals are invited to share their thoughts on the draft Data and Digital Government Strategy on their expectations of government digital services, how we can best use data and digital technologies to deliver better outcomes and how to make sure digital services are more accessible and inclusive.

A series of consultation sessions will also be held in capital cities and regional areas.

Feedback will inform the final Strategy and its implementation plan, which will be released at the end of 2023.

Consultation is open until 25 July 2023.
