SAM MOSTYN AO TO CHAIR WOMEN'S ECONOMIC EQUALITY TASKFORCE

Minister for Women, Senator Katy Gallagher has announced that Ms Sam Mostyn AO has been appointed as Chair of the Government’s Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce, bringing with her decades of experience in the gender equality and advocacy space.

The Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce will provide independent advice to the Government on a broad range of issues facing women in Australia, including to inform the development of a National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality.

The Taskforce, which was a commitment in the recent election campaign, will include eminent women from a range of different backgrounds, experiences, and expertise.

Sam Mostyn AO is a businesswoman and sustainability adviser, with a history of executive & governance roles across business, sport, climate change, the arts, policy and not for profit sectors, including previously as Chair of the Australian National Research Organisation on Women’s Safety (ANROWS) and is currently Current President of Chief Executive Women.

“Women voted for change at the Federal Election and demanded more action from government on issues that affect them, and that is what they will get from the Albanese Labor Government.” Minister Gallagher said.

“The formation of this taskforce delivers on our commitment to make sure that women and their economic security are front and centre of government thinking.”

“I am honoured to be appointed Chair of the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce,” Sam Mostyn said.

“It is a critical time to elevate and honour the voices of women and I look forward to the Taskforce playing a significant role in advancing the participation and progress of women for the benefit of all.”

At the Jobs and Skills Summit, Ms Mostyn will facilitate a panel session titled Equal Opportunities and Pay For Women. This, and the broader discussions at the Summit will feed into the resulting Employment White Paper and development of the National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality.

The Albanese Labor Government is committed to returning Australia to its position as a world leader on gender equality and Ms Mostyn’s leadership in this role will help guide the government in achieving this goal.
